BIO
Leigh began acting in local Toronto theatre while earning a BA(Hon) in Semiotics at University of Toronto. To date Leigh has starred in three feature films; the latest, Waiting for Summer, in which Leigh earned her first song-writing credit for her collaboration on writing and performing the theme song, will premiere at Canadian Film Fest in March 2012. Supernatural thriller Killer God and dark comedy Leatha Acidents, both well-received official selections at Toronto Independent Film Festival 2011, and have had a successful run on the festival circuit. Killer God won the prestigious “Best in Show” at the 2011 itvfest awards in LA, and Leigh was nominated for “Best Actress” at Maverick Film Awards. Leatha Acidents, nominated for a Remi award at the upcoming Worldfest-Houston International Film and Video Festival, played on the Super Channel for several months and is set to screen at AMC theatres summer 2012. Leigh has also enjoyed success with her lead roles in several short films including Heart-Shaped Bruise (Berlin Shorts 2009 selection) and Rite of Spring (Winner of Beaches Film Festival). Television work has aired on APTN, Super Channel, Women’s Network, and the History Channel. Virginia is currently developing a TV show and writing a one-woman play.
